How are we In June Already?!?!?

How are we In June Already?!?!?

How in the world are we in the month of June? I think it's safe to say summer is offically here. Truthfully, I'm just looking forward to the many opportunities that the season will bring me! Does that sound cocky? Listen, I work to hard to be bashful about opportunites when they come my way.  I have a couple author visits at public libraries and attending various community events throughout the coming months.

Though what I'm truly looking forward to is having the opportunity to write. I miss being in my creative element. I have so many ideas in this head of mine for upcoming books...I just need to get it to paper.

It's difficult to balance at times between family, myself and work because over the past year, I've come to realize something important: being visible creates opportunities. Remember, the more you show up, connect with people, and share what you're passionate about, the more doors seem to open. Whether it's meeting readers, speaking with families, networking with fellow entrepreneurs, or simply being present in the community, visibility helps create meaningful connections that can lead to unexpected and exciting possibilities.

Every event is a chance to learn, connect, and introduce new people to my books and educational resources.

Did that sound convincing enough?

Well hear this, all of that sounds great, but if you neglect to take time out for YOU?! Listen, you be in a rel mess (as we Trini's say). I'm sure you have heard this phrase over and over.  You can't pour from an empty cup". Press the pause button if you can and take some time away from it all. When was the last time you read one of your favourite books?

Speaking of books, I'm also thrilled to celebrate the upcoming release of my first chapter book, It's a Party, Period!   Writing for teens was clearing more difficult that I originally anticipated. You can read the previous blog to get an idea of what it's about. I''ll tell you, bringing this story to life has been an incredible journey, and I'm excited to share it with young readers. May (my illustrator) and I were finally able to navigate our schedules over the past couple months.

I know it seems like I'm all over the place, but there's a lot of moving parts that will eventually lead up to something spectacular and meaningful. Trust the process!

On a completely different note, but equally exciting......I'm also working on developing a beverage brand alongside my growing company. This has been a passion project that my husband and I have been building together.

Last September, we held a soft launch at the Trinbago Festival at Nathan Phillips Square, where we introduced three traditional Caribbean beverages: mauby, sorrel, and soursop juice. Let me tell you, it was a HIT!! The soursop juice was sold out before you could say "Jump up and Wave".

Our vision is to create a brand that celebrates the rich, vibrant flavours of our Caribbean culture while helping people discover the nutritional benefits these traditional drinks offer. My husband is truly the creative force behind the beverages. He has an incredible talent for crafting unique drink combinations and developing flavours that are both authentic and refreshing.

Watching this idea evolve from a simple conversation into something tangible has been an inspiring experience. I wish he would have listened to me sooner, but say what, all things in good time. And most importantly in God's time.

As I look ahead to the summer, I'm reminded that growth often comes from stepping outside our comfort zones, embracing new experiences, and sharing our passions with others. Whether it's launching a book, growing a business, developing a new product, or simply attending a community event, every step forward creates new possibilities.

STOP SECOND GUESSING YOURSELF AND JUST DO IT!

I'd love to hear from you: What will you be up to this summer? Is there something new you're hoping to try?

Food?

Beverage?

Hobby?

An event, or a completely new experience?

What motivates you to step outside your comfort zone and explore something different?

Wishing everyone a wonderful summer filled with growth, discovery, and memorable experiences.

Till we Read Again!
