We made it to March!!
Can we take a moment to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women around the world.
International Women’s Month reminds us that every generation of girls deserves the confidence and knowledge to thrive.
But empowerment doesn’t start in adulthood.
It begins in childhood.
I was once one of those young girls that found it confusing and sometimes intimidating as I embarked on milestones such as puberty—particularly menstruation. Thankfully I had the right support, education, and safe spaces to ask questions because this natural part of life felt overwhelming and truthfully, shameful at times.
That is why this month, in honour of International Women's Day, I thought I would be intentional in hosting a special workshop designed to support and celebrate girls during this important stage of life.
It’s essential that we have safe and supportive spaces for girls.
“It’s a Party Period,” is designed for girls ages 8–13 who are beginning to learn about their changing bodies.
Angela Walker has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years. She will be leading this session of which will provide:
• Age-appropriate education about menstruation
• Open and honest conversations in a safe environment
•Group activities
•Refreshments
• Opportunities for girls to ask questions
• Tools to help girls feel confident and prepared for puberty
It is my aim that upon leaving this event our young participants will be equipped with self-esteem,feeling confident and knowledgeable. About body awareness . You see, when girls understand their bodies, they are better equipped to care for themselves and approach this new stage of life with pride rather than uncertainty.
I can’t comprehend why for generations, conversations about menstruation have been whispered or avoided entirely. Yet menstruation is a normal and healthy part of life for millions of women and girls.
I would love it if you shared this information so that we can invest in our girls because truly, every confident woman was once a young girl learning to understand her place in the world.
If you are a parent, guardian, or caregiver with a child between the ages of 8–13, we invite you to consider joining us for this important conversation.
Together, we can ensure that no girl feels confused, ashamed, or unprepared for the changes that come with growing up.
